About University

University of Kalyani was established in 1960 and is also known as Kalyani University. It aims to establish strong partnerships with the industry houses and encourage students from weaker sections to pursue higher education. The University is committed to provide quality education, promote inter-disciplinary research, emphasise on rural economy and the needs of rural people, and creates awareness regarding human rights. It is a State University approved by UGC and AICTE. About Campus life
University of Kalyani provides facilities to the students which include gymnasium, guest house, Wi-Fi, bank, transportation, post office, instrumentation facilities, auditoriums equipped with air-conditioners. The auditoriums are A.P.J Abdul Kalam Auditorium, Acharya Prafulla Chandra Sabhakaksha Auditorium, and Vidyasagar Sabhagriha Auditorium. Some of the other facilities include: Library: The library is spread over 2805 square meters and is stocked with Books, Journals, Back Volumes, Bibliographic Databases, Thesis, Newspapers, e-Books, e-Journals, etc. It provides reading facility, Wi-Fi, inter library loan, plagiarism checking tool, photocopying, wheelchairs and ramp for differently abled students, etc. Hostel: The University provides 9 hostel facilities for the students out of which 3 hostels are for female students and 6 hostels are for male students. The hostels have TV, sports equipment, and all the basic facilities. Sports: The outdoor and indoor sports facilities are provided to the students which include Cricket Ground, Volleyball Court, Football Ground, Swimming Pool, Badminton Court, etc. NSS: The NSS organises various events such as blood donation camps, tree plantation program, cancer awareness seminar, blood group detection camp, pulse polio vaccine program, etc. Health Centre: The health centre provides medical assistance and health care facilities to the students. It has a doctor, medical officer, pharmacist, nurse assistant, health assistant, dressers, part-time pathologist, assistant medical officer, office assistant, part-time lab technician, office clerk, store keeper, ambulance, etc.
